MP for Northcote
As a local resident, Dan has a real passion for improving our community, local business and environment.
Originally elected in 2018, and again in 2023, Dan is current Chair of Parliament’s Māori Affairs select committee and a member of the Economic Development select committee.
Dan was born, adopted, and raised in Auckland to working class parents. After dropping out high school at 15 years of age, Dan completed a butchery apprenticeship with Woolworths supermarket.
He later graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) before being awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend Harvard University, where he gained a Master of Public Policy in Economics.
Prior to Parliament, he has worked as an independent management consultant, a senior executive and in economist roles for the OECD in Paris, several economic think-tanks and Deloitte.
Dan is married to Courtney, and they live in Birkenhead, along with their dog Mylo and their first child due in May 2024.
