MP for Tauranga
Sam Uffindell is in his second term as the MP for Tauranga since winning the 2022 byelection. He is passionate about local issues in Tauranga and sits as Chair of Parliament’s Health Select Committee.
Sam has 15 years’ experience in banking across Australia, Asia and New Zealand. He has worked for several high profile investment and retail banks including Macquarie, Westpac and Deutsche Bank. Before entering politics he was Head of Financial Crime at Rabobank New Zealand.
In addition to his day job, Sam is an owner New Zealand HuMates, a local agribusiness that provides organic soil fertiliser products to farmers and growers.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Otago and a Master of International Law and International Relations from the University of New South Wales. He has completed diplomas in Financial Planning and Applied Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing.
He is married to Julia and they have three young children. Outside of work, Sam enjoys relaxing with family and friends, reading, running, surfing and cooking.
