One Year - Agriculture
Ending the war on farming
We’re backing farmers to do what they do best by cutting red tape, reducing costs, increasing export opportunities, providing certainty and getting Wellington out of farming.
Freeing up farming
We’re removing one size fits all regulations with our RMA reform programme. Already we’ve restored common sense to intensive winter grazing and stock exclusion rules, suspended Significant Natural Areas, and paused the rollout of freshwater farm plans.
Practical tools for farmers
The Government understands that farmers need practical tools to reduce their emissions in a way that won’t reduce production or exports. That’s why we’ve taken agriculture out of the Emissions Trading Scheme, establishing a new Pastoral Sector Group to tackle biogenic methane and invested in R&D to lower on-farm emissions.
Unlocking opportunities for exporters
Our progress on significant trade agreements has unlocked new opportunities for NZ exporters, including signing the EU-FTA, and concluding negotiations on agreements with the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
