Welcome to my April newsletter
April brings some very good news for those of you receiving benefits. As of April 1st, 1.5 million New Zealanders see an increase in their income. Details are here: Cost of living support coming for 1.5 million New Zealanders
If you’re a local business owner or manufacturer, please come along this Friday to an informal meeting with Minister Chris Penk. Chris is Minister of Small Business and manufacturing and is keen to hear your concerns and thoughts.
I am aware of challenges that some business owners are facing in the electorate but would like to find out more to see if we can assist in any way.
Date: Friday 4th of April
Time: 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Location: Terra Viva – 242 Roydvale Ave, Burnside
Please reply if attending only to Paige.Dawber-Ashley@parliament.govt.nz
Proposed boundary changes were announced last week. Click here https://vote.nz/boundary-review to check them out. While I would have preferred no change in our boundary, we are slightly under the required population number, so do have a small change where we take in an area of Papanui.
Last weekend the finalists to become Ilam’s Youth Parliament representative were interviewed by our independent expert panel. I was delighted Dr Therese Arseneau (political science lecturer Canterbury University and media personality), leading Christchurch journalist Chris Lynch and Clive Antony (Digital Political campaigner and founder of Antony and Mates Creative Agency) gave their time and expertise to make up the panel.

I am looking forward to a very busy April. Thank you to those who have invited me to events. These opportunities to meet with groups help me better represent Christchurch in Parliament. If your organisation or business has a meeting or event coming up and would like your local MP as a speaker, please contact paige.dawber-ashley@parliament.govt.nz
