Hamish Campbell - October Update

08 October 2024

Hamish Campbell

One year ago, we were in full campaign mode for election day October 14th. For me personally I will never forget the sense of relief and elation that day bought, along with a strong sense of responsibility.
My goal has never changed, and that is to be the best local MP I can be and every day I work to achieve that goal.
Reflecting on my first year as MP, I appreciate how important it is to work with a good team whether it be in Parliament, the National Party or in my Ilam office
Being in coalition, progress is a compromise, but we are focussed on the problems that Kiwi voters told us needed fixing. Education, Health and Law and Order require big changes after six years of costly systems’ reviews rather than the delivery of real and tangible solutions.
We’ve made good progress but there’s more to come. I’d like to invite you to pop in to the office on Sunday 13 October between 2-4pm for a slice of cake and a chat to let me know your thoughts of our first year. I look forward to seeing you and hearing your views.
